Hear from our students about what being a student of Mount St. Mary Academy means to them.
Amanda Saber '24 and Siobhan Murphy '24 featured in The Buffalo News this Spring after the MSM Thunder Varsity Basketball Team won the NYS CHSAA B State Championship in New York City.
“I love going to such a small school because I love it when people ask me where I go and I get to say Mount St. Mary Academy,” Saber said. “Sometimes they look at me confused and I always tell them where we’re from. No, we’re not St. Mary’s of Lancaster or Mount Saint Mercy, we’re Mount Saint Mary’s. It’s such a tight-knit community we have here throughout the school. I feel like I wouldn’t have that community feel anywhere else.”- Amanda Saber '24
“Going to Mount is a very close community, everyone is super supportive about everything. Everyone knows what you’re working on and how much you care about it. It’s a really big support system. Representing Mount, I feel proud and have given it my all.” - Siobhan Murphy '24
“Since becoming a student at Mount, I have become more open to new opportunities as well as a more outgoing person. My teachers and friends at Mount are very encouraging with whatever I do. They push me to do better, in turn, I find that I push myself to do my best every day. I found out about Leadership Buffalo through Mrs. Spillman when she reached out to me with a leadership opportunity in September. I tend to be an extremely shy person, so I was reluctant to fill out the application. I'm glad I did. I was accepted into the program and have had a great time each session. I've learned so much since becoming a part of Leadership Buffalo. I would say that the most valuable thing I've learned since being a part of Leadership Buffalo is that you need to do what makes you happy, and what you love to do. Otherwise, you'll spend a lot of time being miserable.” - Nia King '25
"This year at the Mount, I am on the F.L.A.G Football Team and Swim Team. My freshman year, I loved how everyone was so welcoming. As an athlete, my coaches are always there for me. Being a part of the school's first ever F.L.A.G Football Program makes me feel empowered to be playing a sport with my teammates that is predominately male-driven." -Sydney Yost '26
"In the past four years, Mount has become a second home to me. It has been an honor getting to experience the education my mom, Lisa Battaglia Garvey '96, had before me" - Maeve Garvey '24
"Attending the same school my mom attended is one of the biggest reasons the mount is so special to me. I am able to bond and connect with my mother about similarities between our experiences while still being able to have a different and unique perspective compared to her. My mom is so present in the MSM community as well; sometimes it feels like she never even left." - Adelaide Garvey '25
